Mission of the Prayer Ministry

  • To pray with and for the people of All Saints Church, our local community, and the world.
  • To encourage and enable people to discover and deepen their own prayer lives.

We do this submitted to the authority of the Rector and the Vestry, and consonant with the Anglican way of living the gospel.

For where two or three are gathered in my name, there I am among them.
Matthew 18:20

Sunday Morning Prayer is offered during Communion at each service every Sunday. This is a time that you can come and bring any concern – for yourself, a friend, a family member – and a prayer team will pray with you and for you. Or, if you do not have a specific request and just would like prayer, please come. All prayer requests are kept confidential. We consider it a privilege to pray with you.

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
Lamentations 3:22-23

Why schedule a prayer appointment?

Isn’t it enough to come for prayer on Sunday morning?

Scheduling an appointment with a prayer team allows time for listening, talking, praying – for going a little deeper. Appointments are usually scheduled for an hour and a half, although that time is very flexible. The person seeking prayer meets with a team of two trained prayer ministers; they are not therapists or counselors. The priority and focus of the time is to join together in prayer, listening and seeking to follow the gentle leading and healing presence of the Lord. Ministers and prayer recipients submit themselves and their time to the purposes and guidance of the Lord.

Any concern or need is appropriate for this time: seeking a deeper relationship with the Lord, fears or anxieties, relationship issues, emotional wounds, painful childhood memories, trauma, any disease of body, soul, or spirit.

“What joy and inspiration I received through my sessions with the prayer ministers! My worst fears, longings, and struggles were met with mercy and grace through prayer. In my own time and at my own pace, I learned how much Jesus understands about me and how perfect His love is for me. I felt reunited with His eternal love and drew closer to Jesus than I have been throughout my entire life. This ministry is powerful and inspirational, and yet, more simply, I experienced the infinite intelligence and infinite love of Christ. Many times, I’m reminded of Paul’s words from Romans 11:33: “Oh,the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out.”

These special services of prayer and praise are designed to be spacious and creative. There is time to raise our voices together in song and time to pray alone; time to read Scripture and opportunities to seek prayers of healing; time to seek the Spirit together and time to do nothing at all. Come and see.

Every time I’ve gone to the All Saints Worship/Prayer night I’ve been deeply encouraged. A deep sense of the Presence of God fills the room with His Peace and the “weight of His glory”. That in itself is worth the trip. Your prayer team has folks who are seriously seeking God and who feel called to love others by praying for them. They are careful and joyful, and they love to pray blessing over God’s people. Often the Lord has an encouraging prophetic word for me through people on the team. Even if they silently pray for me, I sense the Lord’s great love for me, I feel my burdens lifted, and I have a renewed sense that the Lord will take care of my difficulties and challenges. In short, I sense a deeper level of faith in Father’s goodness and His love for me. I leave refreshed and renewed. Thanks so much for your open hearts, willing to share your bounty with others in our community. Blessings on All Saints and on their faithful prayer team!
